I'm not sure how one can make a smooth anxiety-free transition.

I think everyone gets anxious starting a new job. Maybe practice your cognitive behavioural therapy techniques?

Maybe ask your pdoc for some anti-anxiety meds for just until you get settled into work?

My pdoc gave me some propranolol for my physical symptoms of anxiety.
