Ooh, I'm so flattered--a question for me! :)

I would be *shocked* if your pdoc would want to commit you under such circumstances. Of course I couldn't say for sure, but 99.9% sure that wouldn't happen. Typically, you would have to be currently suicidal AND unable to promise to keep yourself safe for pdoc to want to hospitalize you. It actually might be helpful info for him to know if you guys are planning to discontinue your meds. Suicidal thoughts in themselves are very common among people with depression and/or other mental health problems. Often they can be a helpful sign of how you are doing.

Of course, telling pdoc can feel hard to do. I know that side of the coin too. Although I have never made an attempt, I have had lots of thoughts. I really like and trust my pdoc, but I didn't offer that I was having thoughts until asked directly (And I even lied about it a few times before that, I think). But, it felt like a weight was lifted when I "came clean." She was very compassionate and understanding. And I think it has made it easier to decide what is working and what isn't.

Hope that helps!

Best,
EE

I have none now and it only occured 45 days after stopping my med. and i restarted immediately. I have always kept these feelings to myself for fear i wld. be committed. Any input?
