Yeah, I do try to be respectful myself (not always successfully, I know). Actually it doesn't bother me nearly as much when people are mean to me. It bothers me when they are mean to others. I don't know why that is. But when people post racial slurs (extremely cruel ones) and things like that, it just about kills me.
But you are right. I need to ignore, because sometimes I think they feed of the negative reactions.....
