election making depression worse

Posted by Louisa on November 3, 2004, at 12:25:45

I was already feeling depressed before the election, but all I want to do is to throw myself on the floor and put my head under a pillow. I can't even smile. Usually, even when I'm feeling depressed I can hide it from most people, but the fellow in the office next to mine just poked his head in and tried to make stupid jokes... I know why -- I look like my best friend just died! And I feel like it, too.

My husband (who isn't even American) is angry about the election, but I don't know who to be angry at (51% of America?) and so I feel helpless, and as if nothing could ever make me feel happy again. I know it's the depression talking, but this is just sending me over the edge. Does anyone else feel this way? Triumphalist Republicans need not reply, please.
