Sorry, but where cats are concerned, the heart always rules. They have been my most bestest friends through thick and thin. I have lots and lots of experience with kitties. Protect your furniture if you're raising a kitten!!!
Seriously, I think they are a good choice for a live-alone person because they are purr-fectly happy all by themselves while you're slaving away all day, and even if you're gone overnight.
(Jeez, I'm a bad influence, aren't I???)
