My ex-hubby designs websites, so I asked him to look at both sites with me for a few minutes. (Of course, now I have to cook him a dinner.) His strong opinion was that, the Grohol site wins hands down for features and ease-of-use. Some features I liked:
1) built in mail system so you can send private mail to any user
2) you can easily search for all posts by a specific user by clicking on their name
3) there are multiple "moderators" around to help, whenever I've been on there seems to be one signed. (you can opt to display if you are signed on)
4) it has its own internal chat room and it looks like you can set up private chat rooms, but I'm not sure. The chat room seems to empty out early tho - must be a lot of east coast people there.
5) As far as admin difference, this is from the FAQ, I edited out the ones that are obvious or the same as babble:

Some of the above would not be liked by some members of Babble, so the site would not be appropriate for them.Because of the population on that site, there is limited psych meds knowledge. Some of you know Cam - he used to run their meds board. It states there that for personal reasons he is no longer able to do that. So, that's one area that the site lacks. Anyhow, that's the summary from me and the ex.
But, of course, PsychCentral is missing the one important ingrediant!!! BABBLERS! No website would be any good without them. :-)
