Dee, you sound like my kinda girl (or guy maybe?). I'm not real slide rule friendly, but give me a scientific calcualtor and look out. Boulian algebra is my second language. I have actually made "real life" decisions using truth tables. Of course I can rattle of Ohm's law and all pertanent inversions of same. If you want to talk JK flip flops, I'm your man. Resistor color codes...what was that neumonic? Blonds Bring Real Old.... I *really* feel at home here now!! I'm surrounded by geeks. Heavenly!!

kid

> OK, if being an engineer makes someone a geek, mea culpa. I think that the real test of geekdom should include something other than one's desire for computational power on ones' wrist. Anyone can wear a watch, tacky or otherwise.
> I have the resistor color code in my head. I can go from hex or binary back to decimal in my head, going the other way sometimes requires paper. And yes, I know that Intel and Motorola don't like to talk to each other without a bit of re-ordering. I'm a bona fide 100% all american engineering geek
> If though, one has used a slide rule for performing real-life calculations, that's something that really steps you up a rung on the geek ladder. I looked in my collection... I've 3 standard linear slide rules. I also have a circular one that calculates G level, Displacement and Frequence if any two items are known. I wouldn't wear any of them though.
> I haven't met any engineers who weren't geeks, with the exception of those who got engineering degrees, but have only worked in sales. They can get away without being geeks.
