As a librarian, I'm not sure that I would recommend forgoing the story. Reading to children is one of the most important things that you can do for them. A love of books can be learned at an early age and last a lifetime. The special time while you cuddle and read together and explore new worlds through books is precious.

Now, with the kids you have, you might have to read one at a time with them so they don't act up while you are reading. I know how they like to bug each other. But that would be OK, because then YOU would get 3 stories, instead of just 1. Such a deal! And if you get books from the library instead of feeding them, you can save a lot of money. What would you do with that money? For me, it would definately go into ice cream, although it is hard to hide ice cream from those pesky children who live in house. It is easier to hide candy or cookies and you can sneak those when they aren't looking. Ice cream is a bit more challenging in this regard. Hmmm I'll have to think about that.

So save some money - go to your library (but don't bring ice cream into the library... I eat in the library - lunch etc. but I don't know that I would bring ice cream into the library...)
