It's not surprising that going on the net a lot (notice Beardy, I've ALWAYS typed a lot not alot) makes reading difficult. We use a different part of our brain for watching (or reading) something on TV or the computer. It's different than what we use for reading. It's been shown by using PET scans of an active brain.

It's something that we should be training our minds to do. If we only use it in a certain way, other parts get lazy & we lose our ability in those areas. Because I have ADD, I've worked extra hard to train myself to concentrate on lectures or talks. I dare not get lazy about using the computer too much or watching too much TV. I lose my ability to follow & concentrate on printed matter very fast then.

Any time we can use our minds in somewhat diff ways, we should. I've read that things as simple as trying to eat with your left hand (if you're right handed) sometimes, to doing puzzles that you normally wouldn't, to driving a different route hone than your normal one all "exercise" our mind in ways we wouldn't normally.

It's good to use your mind in as many diff ways as you can. It doesn't have to be brain rackingly hard stuff either, just different. People who use their minds like this rarely develop senility or Alzheimer's & can recover much better if they suffer a stroke or anything similar. It's good insurance for when we grow old.
