Re: getting rid of a pdoc/ he is fighting to keep

In reply to getting rid of a pdoc/ he is fighting to keep me, posted by LiLi80 on March 24, 2002, at 2:19:16

I had a similar experience. Everyone told me that I didn't have to face him again, once I had made the decision to change pdocs. But he continued pushing me. Finally, after discussing it with my therapist, I decided to face him and I told him EXACTLY why I was changing docs. Exactly what I disagreed with. And, truly, I felt a little better afterwards, b/c I hadn't backed down. This from a woman who avoids confrontation at every angle. I'm terrified of standing up to 'authority figures', even ones who shouldn't have any authority! But I did it...

And now I have a pdoc who seems to know what he's doing. And who returns my pages quite promptly. It's like night and day.

Hope you can get this straightened out. You shouldn't have to put up with an incompetent pdoc. It's not like they aren't paid enough!! (no offense Dr. Bob)
