The above list is my version of a Religious Experience, emphasis on the Old Testament, which is the side I fall on, nothing against the Son of God.

Other pain artists I like include Merle Haggard, Tammy Wynette, Red House Painters, Portishead, George Jones, Johnny Cash, Chet Baker, The Smiths.

Tough-minded songwriters who pull me up from wallowing w/out turning my head into a Hallmark card include

X (and Exene)


I'd sure like to add some to that second list, if anyone knows of music that makes them want to keep trying I will run not walk, vs. walk, not run to the record store.
