Adams. Here in the UK we have the highest rates of teenage drug-dependency & pregnancy in Europe. It is no co-incidence we also have the least comprehensive drug & sex education programmes for schoolkids in Europe. This head-in-sand state of denial that our govts seem to share does our kids no favours. Drugs are a fact of life & people must be given all the relevant facts upon which they can make informed decisions.

I also think that education would have the effect of demystifying drugs somewhat, diminishing their illicit appeal.

As Noa says, (impartial) education is never a bad thing.

> I thought I might tell you my idea of how to solve the drug abuse problem in this country and also have many other good effects, this is how it would work, currently students in high school are required to get 3 credits in science, I say we change that to 4 science credits, the fourth course would be about drugs, it would be required that all students pass the course in order to graduate high school, the title would be something like "introduction to drugs" or maybe there is a better name than that, I dont know, but the course would cover a wide variety of different types of drugs, in this class there would be no advertiseing, there would be no brainwashing of the students, this class would provide the facts and only the most scientific facts about drugs and it would explain exactly how a wide variety of drugs, illegal and legal, actually work in the brain. Advertiseing doesnt work, "just say no" doesnt work, we must educate people about drugs, haveing a science course just about drugs would solve much more than the problem of drug addiction, it would also get people more interested in medicine and more people would become doctors or researchers in the field of medicine, and in a world where the use of drugs is becomeing more and more important in society, it wouldnt hurt for people to be a little bit more educated about drugs. Sorry if my writeing skills are poor, I dont know, maybe its a dumb idea but its just something I was thinking about. But think about it, who is more likely to end up a drug addict, somebody who was simply told to "just say no" or someone who is well educated about drugs. And of course this whole law enforcement thing is a joke, this system was developed by people with way too much testosterone, of course drug addicts are people who have a problem and need help, not thrown in jail. But anyways thats just my opinion. So what do you think of my school idea?
