When is it too much therapy?

Posted by Verloren on June 7, 2010, at 22:07:27

I see my T twice a week now. When I started it was only once a week and I asked to go up to twice. Lately, I'm thinking 3 times a week would be great (although expensive).

The thing is, I went to twice so that one session could focus on the current events and day-to-day and the other session would be using the art therapy and discussing how the past may or may not relate to the current.

But lately, I'm feeling completely overwhelmed by the current events. I'm having 3 major life-changing events: returned to school, new position at work, and moving into a bigger place because my grandmother is moving in with me so I can take care of her. Not to mention the regular stuff too.

I feel like we never get to the past and discussions about my childhood, because of everything going on right now.

I'm wondering what the best solution is, so I'm asking my babbler friends.

Do I ask for more sessions, go up to 3?

Do I try to find some alternative therapy solution?

Do I just grin and bear it?

Obviously, I'm a bit biased toward more sessions. I wonder if it's also a mixed matter of me wanting to see her more? Also, I'm not certain she'd agree to more. So what should I do if I'm rejected?
