Without knowing the particulars, I have to say that that seems a bit insensitive for your husband to have invited them when you need to recuperate. And yes, surgery in addition to endocrine problems is an awful lot to cope with. Are they all really unaware that you need to be taking it easy? Could you suggest ordering in for a dinner or two, citing fatigue or just not feeling up to par? Can you tell your DH how you are feeling and that you really need rest? If you don't get that rest, it will just make the endocrine problems worse due to stress.
The other thing that struck me was their apparent minimization of that small piece of your history that you shared with them. Many people do have that sort of reaction, unfortunately; they just don't know how to respond to information like that. Sounds like they missed a good opportunity to get to know you. I can see how that might not be helping the visit and must have been disappointing.
How much longer are they going to be visiting? As others have said, it's going to be essential that you take care of yourself, maybe pamper yourself. And take naps when need you, to combat the fatigue. You can't heal if you don't have rest.
