Are you looking for a psychiatrist to prescribe medications or a therapist? Or both?

For me personally, finding a therapist is like finding any other person who is important in your life. Personal fit is important, and it might be necessary to interview a few, or even try the promising ones out with the idea that if it doesn't work you'll move on.

While all I ask from my psychiatrists is that they know a lot about psycho-pharmacology and recognize that drugs have side effects that aren't in the patient's mind. Maybe I expect too little, because I've never actually been happy with my psychiatrist.
