I loaned my T a copy about 4 months into therapy (I've been seeing him now for 2 years), hoping it would be easier to discuss transference with him. No such luck really. He did claim to read the book however and thought it was interesting.

However, when the subject of my transference did come up, all he basically said was "Don't worry, I've read her chapter on transference." And that was it. It has never come up again. I do feel I am over my transference now, but his response was less than satisfactory. He's very CBT oriented which probably explains things.

I always felt that his rather vague response was him neither accepting my transference nor rejecting it. He did return the book to me about9 months later, although I'm not sure how much of it he read.
