Undoubtedly. I'm sure I protected my parents until very very recently. My cousin had absolutely no idea what my parents were really like. I also tend to be fiercely loyal to those I care about.

Some of it, yes. Some of it no. Because some of it I like, or it suits my purposes. I'm not likely to tell him of relevant therapy theory if it is against my best interests to do so. Well, what I perceive to be my best interests, anyway. It may not be. But either way, I'm not going to take him to task.

Hmmm... I definitely use my therapy theory geek knowledge to help equalize the balance of power in our relationship.
