Pissed off at my doctor

Posted by Camille Dumont on June 26, 2004, at 13:53:34

After finally finding the right meds combo and feeling good for 3 months, my doctor found just the right thing to put me down ... there I was ready to discuss when to start tampering the meds and he goes :

Him : You'll most likely need to take them for the rest of your life

Me : WHAT?!?!?!?!

Him : Well, you've been depressed before so there is a 85% chance that it will come back so you have to stay on them. Its like being diabetic.

Then he handed me a prescription for 12 months and told me to come back in a year.

I'm so pissed. I think I'll wait six months and start tampering them off on my own. I can't believe how uncaring he can be sometimes.

I was fine before being depressed, so I don't see why I should depend on those pills for the rest of my life.

Has anybody here ever been told something similar?

What did you do?
