Erika Schmidt, teen adult eating disorders

Posted by Poet on February 28, 2004, at 19:28:01

I've been bulimic for over 20 years (more like 25, actually.) I didn't know what I did had a name until the early 80s when those made for TV movies popped up.

My anxiety, depression and bulimia are all linked to something from my childhood. My therapist knows what it is, I just refuse to talk further about it. If you've worked with teens with eating disorders, how did you help them be able to open up? I've thought of just writing a long letter, but I'm afraid I'd rip it up.

I'd appreciate any advice.
