I have a phobia of having my blood pressure taken. After a lifetime of low blood pressure, my bp was high during the first year of the depression. The incompetent doc I was seeing had me on a med that elevated my bp. For ten months, I did everything to get it lowered but to no avail. After changing docs, (a long story) getting the bp under control, tackling the depression.... I came out on the other side. But, I am phobic about having my BP taken and have resumed therapy to conquer it.

So, in my case, a phobia developed in response to a situation.
