Help! What medications for schizotypal disorder?

Posted by Tiina on April 8, 2003, at 3:51:58

Hi everyone,
I think I have schizotypal personality disorder and I would like to know what kind of medications people take for it. I have severe depression and anxiety and am currently on 225mg of Efexor. It just ties down my depression and everything else making me tense. It also gives me weird nightmares and I wanna get off of it. I don't know if I need to be taking an anti-psychotic or perhaps a mood stabilizer or a combo of an AP and something else? I don’t think SSRI’s work for me. My depression and anxiety were so bad that I was showing signs of a starting psychosis so I think I might need an anti-psychotic but I don't want to live in a hazy world. Does anyone know if mood stabilizers can help with that and the general symptoms of schizotypal disorder? Are mood stabilizers safer than APs? I appreciate any help.
