I believe it is a variation on traditional psychoanalysis that incorporates the ideas of Carl Jung, altho I could be wrong. I suspect that its value depends on the skills of the practitioner, like any other school of therapy. My therapist incorporated Jungian ideas from time to time.

I'm sure in the right hands it could be useful for bipolar, but not as a substitute for medications. My understanding is that meds are vital for the management of bipolar. Therapy can help you live with the fallout from bipolar and teach you better coping skills tho.

Just my opinion, so take it for what it's worth.

P.S. You can probably do a google search to find out way more than you'd ever want to know about the theory behind Jungian Analysis.
