Pdoc's doen't believe me (on meds)

Posted by ensoul on July 10, 2002, at 23:24:49

It isn't just Pdoc's and no not all do this but, I truly hate it when they don't believe you when it comes to your own body.

I know for myself any medication that is sedating will knock me for a loop. I couldn't tolerate trazadone at 25 mgs! I've been on numerous pain medications and truly know I have to be careful with this. I have several medication allergies and I'm asthmatic. I have to be careful with meds that are sedating they can slow down your respiration, for an asthmatic that can be problematic. Yes, I keep all my doctors informed of medications and medical conditions.

Pdoc insists on giving Klonopin, which I don't want and don't feel I need it. He tells me it is the best med for Social Phobia. Ha! I agree to try to for 3 weeks. Literally, I cannot function on it. Since I caretake for my Mother and she longer drives, this is huge problem.

He then doubles my dose! No, I cannot change doctors since I am in county mental health. My therapist says he doesn't get along with intelligent assertive women. Them what the hell is doing being a doctor!

SIGH.....being poor in the US means poor quality mental health care.
