A Modest Proposal for banning gay marriage

Posted by Racer on June 15, 2006, at 13:02:41

(NB: This will make more sense if you remember the original Modest Proposal.)

Marriage is a right and a priviledge enjoyed by all heterosexual couples in this country, who are all represented in our government. (At least in theory.)

Taxation without representation is specifically prohibited by the United States Constitution.

Therefore, I believe that any prohibition of gay marriage is absolutely acceptable -- provided there is also an exemption from taxes for all gays in this country.

And I'll further bet that two things would happen if this idea were adopted:

1. Many, many people would "admit" to being gay. Just, you know, all of a sudden discover -- oh, about 10 April -- that they've been gay all along, and never realized it before.

and

2. Politicians would scurry wildly to legalize gay marriage.

Just, you know, a random thought...
