I don't think they have enough power to take over until we're dead. But until then, they can overwhelm the immune system when given an opportune environment. There is always waste debris from normal bacteria and fungi in us that our immune system and lymph glands clean up. But when the populations are too large, the cleaning service gets overwhelmed and backed up. It is then that we feel symptoms. Lethargy, brain fog, depression, anxiety. Basically, too much sewage circulating in the brain. The same things happens when we start to kill them off, because then the sewage becomes intense in a very short timeframe. That is called a Herxheimer reaction.

Even a weak immune system is strong enough to keep them from killing us outright. But not strong enough to keep their levels low enough for good health.

I wish there were better ways to test for these kinds of things. Because as it is now, the only real way is to try some anti-this or anti-that meds and see what happens. Only after the fact are we able to know.
