In reply to The Holy Spirit, how do we hear him?, posted by mmcconathy on January 21, 2005, at 19:22:39
Hello, I was thinking that another way to hear from Him is by having less of the world in us. The more we renew our minds and do not conform to this world, the closer we are to Him. Also, He asks us to "Be still and know He is God". How often are we really being still, to listen for and to Him. How much of the talking are we doing? So many times I've ignored that small still voice to do or not to do something. Ya know what, I pay the price when I ignore it! It sometimes seems for me the harder I want to hear from Him, the less likely I am. However, He sure has shown himself in my desparate times. One example, I was suffering terribly from a panic attack at work. I was alone in the nurses room, crying out to God to show me something that I needed to know He was with me and Im gonna be ok. He said, yes I heard this in my head, not audible with ears, "yeah tho I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me Lord" Well, me being a new christian and all, I've heard that verse read at funerals! So I thought OH great, does that mean Im dying! (I know its ok to laugh). But then a christian friend finally was able to come down to see me and she explained it to me. So, I researched that scripture to get the full meaning of it. Anyways, Im rambling and time for bed, God bless all of you. Renee
