Being in the middle of being a borderliner, I'm probably not very objective. We are terribly subjective while pretending to be objective with a certain charm.
The deciding factor is usually self-injury. This could take the form of "innocent" sort of stuff like body piercings, tattoos, shaving the head, pulling out hair yet usually it involves cutting.
I was a cutter. Lots of other ingredients into this. Abandoment as a child and later feelings of emptiness and boredom. Especially the emptiness - like noone is home. There's a lack of any sense of an individual. Not sociopathic or psychotic, just a lot of emotional pain.
There's a list of behaviors like overspending, sex addiction, substance abuse, suicide attempts & gestures, that go with this Dx.
