I know antipsychotic drugs are disliked by some people because of their actions and side-effects - however, for many people they DO work and help those suffering from psychoses lead normal lives.

I'm not sure on the situation of prescribing antipsychotic drugs to under 18's.
I'd have thought the atypicals would be preferred - Olanzapine; Quetiapine; Risperidone; Amisulpride; Ziprasidone etc.

I know (some of) these are available as depot injections - one injection of the drug lasts for a number of weeks.

I think you should certainly speak to a qualified psychiatrist who could advise on which - if any - are suitable for prescribing to children. He would also discuss what therapies would be suitable.

Good luck!
