rhodiola withdrawal/tolerance?

Posted by reaver_original on November 15, 2010, at 18:34:04

Hi guys,Can anyone give me some advice?Been using Herb Tech brand Rhodiola 250mg (1% salidrosides) for 3 months now.

During the first 2 months I took halve a capsule in the morning and a halve before lunch. Effects were very good: more happiness, the ability to enjoy small things went up. no side effects. After that, I quit entirely within 3 days, and experienced remarkable fatigue, headaches and a quite depressed mood, along a physical sign of tension (jaw-stiffness).

After a week, I started again, this time using ONE capsule in the morning, and half a capsule at lunchtime (375 mg/day). earlier mentioned symptoms vanished within 1 day. However, i found it more difficult to sleep and during the day I had a feeling of continuous unrest. After a week, I decided to go back to the earlier 0,5 capsule twice a day.Now (3 days on this dosage) I am experiencing a neutral to optimistic mood, but the headaches still hit me, once/twice a day, especially when outside (a lot of audiovisual stimulation seems to trigger
the headache).

Could this be a tolerance issue? (rhodiola combats headache- in high doses - when going lower the body needs to readapt, much like medication-dependent headache?)

Has anyone experienced similar (or other) "withdrawal" effects after lowering dosage or quitting? If so, how long did it last?

Thanks!J.
