Because "modern psychiatry" doesn't really care about you or me. The employees of Big Pharma and overworked pdocs are just trying their best to live their own lives and do their jobs within the scope of their training and areas of specialty. Telling you to take lots of vitamins is a) not something either have any training in and b) not exactly going to create a repeat customer. There's also little funding for studies on vitamins because they can't be patented. That's business. Don't hate the player, hate the game.
