Right now, the dose I'm working on is about 650mg of magnesium citrate and 500mg of chelated calcium per day. I've heard that a 1:1 ratio may be better for some people, but I'm not saying a 2:1 ratio isn't correct for others. There is some debate over ratios. I've even heard some people need double the amount of magnesium to calcium. I think you just have to be sensible. Don't overdo it with either mineral, you know? I tend to do worse on very high doses of calcium, so I keep it at about 500mg per day. I also have to mention that I take calcium antacids for my GERD symptoms, so I am actually getting more than 500mg of calcium per day. I find, however, that the chelated forms of calcium work better for me than plain old calcium carbonate, but calcium carbonate is used in a lot of calcium supplements used for preventing osteoporosis. So I guess it works, I just like the chelated forms more.
