> I've found that over time taking zinc picolinate gives me more energy, especially in the hot summer months when I'm fatigued easily. First, you have to start slow, then increase over time. My magic dosage is 44mg taken in the morning. It may help if you are severely depressed and have low energy all the time, but it will probably take a couple of months before you see optimum benefits. Note that dosage is important. Too low a dose, and it will not be effective. Too high a dose, and you may not like it either. A good dose to reach would be about 50mg per day, but some people can't tolerate this much. I started off with 22mg and worked my way up slowly, finally getting to 44mg and that's all I need. Solgar has a good zinc picolinate product. Each tablet contains 22mg of zinc picolinate. You can cut tablets in half while you're slowly increasing the dosage.

The 22mg Solgar Zinc Picolinate tablets caused manic energy/anxiety for me. It even caused some insomnia. I had taken one per day for a week and the effects didn't stop. Could these be start-up effects from low zinc/mild deficiency?

Any ideas on what I should try next?
