I believe what you say is true. So does my doctor. He says people that take only high doses of fish oil throw the balance of good oils out of whack. He is a fan of a combination of fish oil and borage, or any combo of flax, borage, and safflower. Some companies make combo oils that include the supposed correct ratio of the good oils.

My doc did an expensive (wish I hadn't done it) fatty acid profile lab test on me. What it showed was that my EPA and DHA were sky high while all the other good oils were squashedi into nonexistance. This was after taking fish oil in modest amounts for two years without supplementing other things to balance it. I actually did feel better when I stopped taking the fish oil. I found flax+safflower cleaner and better. Regardless, I have never found any of the oils to do anything for my mood or energy. Unlike you, I am extremely sensitive to B vitamins and have bad reactions to them, so I get them from my diet and don't supplement any extra lest I invite a host of new problems.

> It seems to be important to get a balance of omega-3s (fish oil, flax oil) and omega-6s (evening primrose oil, borage oil). I take 1,000mg of fish oil and 1,000mg of evening primrose oil together, and I feel much better. Both my mood and my energy levels seem to be more stabilized. But I also rely on some other vitamins like B1, B5, and vitamin C for added energy and depression.
