After about 12 years on low dose Paxil(2.5 to 5 mg per day), I finally had some time off work following surgery and quit cold turkey. It's been 3 weeks now, and I feel I'm through the worst of it. I would like to try Sam-e but am hypersensitive to these types of substances(the 2.5 mg of Paxil was therapuetic). I would like to start on less than the lowest dose that is available commercially(200mg). But the pills have an enteric coating, which is obviously destroyed by splitting. Anyone know how to get around this problem? Is it possible to apply your own enteric coating to the fragment? I contacted a compounding pharmacy, and they said they could not take a previously manufactured pill and alter it. By implication, they can't get hold of the raw substance itself. Any ideas anyone??
