I noticed an improvement in my depression (atypical) when I installed just two full spectrum tubes in a ceiling fixture in my living room. I typically sat beneath it to read or watch TV.
Within a week I was walking and going outside for the first time in over six months. It helped me get my foot out the door. It even helped me cut down on my computer and TV use.
Eventually I installed bulbs everywhere and bought a lightbox (which I've yet to use on a regular basis). I think any amount of full spectrum lighting is good. It seemed to help me make the transition from the computer/TV world to the outdoors - and consequently, into even more full spectrum light.
