In reply to Inositol in panic disorder - study v. fluvoxamine, posted by sdb on August 11, 2006, at 16:18:00

I've been conducting my own study with Inositol. I have been taking between 8 - 12 grams of Inositol per day for 8 weeks now. Unfortunately to date I can't replicate any cessation of panic as per the studies. I have good quality Inositol. I am continuing to take Inositol until I run out in a couple more weeks by that time I will consider whether to continue or not.

My advice is it's cheap to buy in bulk and worth a shot if you suffer from panic disorder but don't expect anything dramatic to happen. I'm thinking possibly that the panic I suffer from is allergy based, and therefore Inositol would probably have little effect if I continue to consume allergens. How I go about discovering if I have allergies and if they relate to panic disorder is a whole different ball game though. I suspect gluten possibly as I suffer from mouth ulcers frequently and I also suffer from a lot of catarrh. My anxiety is also worse it seems when I have mouth ulcers and not just because of the intense discomfort they produce.

I rate Inositol as disappointing unfortunately in my case. Sorry if I burst anyone's bubble :(
