Hey Declan,
Yeah, I've come to the conclusion that it isn't helpful for anxiety. But OTOH I don't think rhodiola exacerbates it and I think it might even offer come protection against panic, well the physical symptoms (racing heart, that shot of adrenaline) at least.
But yeah, I'm looking into alternative treatments for the anxiety. It tend to comes on in the evenings. At the moment, I'm supplementing with a glass or two or wine/beer, not a longterm solution I know, but hey. Perhaps a cup of chamomile tea might do it.
I'm actually supposed to be also taking a herbal tincture containing
rosemary, damiana, siberbian ginseng, ginkgo and schziandra
which sounds quite stimuating, but apparently its physically stimulating but mentally calming.
I haven't actually started taking it (I am scared to death of any interactions!) but I have had a few sips (diluted in water) and so far I haven't had any immediate allergic reaction to it (I know, I know, completely irrational because I know I'm not allergic to anything that I know of) so I'm going to try 2ml a day until I see the herbalist on Monday.
But serctin sounds interesting - however, I have enough on my plate with this herbal blend which is proving to be pretty challenging trying to get me to actually take the stuff. I'm also supposed to be taking a bunch of vitamins and fish oils, but that sort of goes out the window too. Argh. Why I am so adverse to taking things?? Perhaps I've been burnt too many times by conventional stuff. Who knows. Any advice?
Kind regards
Meri
