Just 'cause it's easier to feel what happens that way. You're creating what's called a bolus. A large increase in blood concentration of one amino acid, but not any of the others. It's like their bus got to the fairground first, and all the rides are open and waiting for customers. (Assuming your body has the nutrients it needs, of course.)

You don't need liquid. And you don't need it under the tongue. Your stomach is where uptake of free aminos begins. Right there.
