Yes, there is something in this oil that makes it very much more effective against arthritis than other marine oils.....I'm going to go with sterols. It is also possible that these mussels are actually contaminated with "toxins" from phytoplankton, which remain active in the extracted oil. <shrug>

Is it worth the cost? Depends on if it works. It seems to be very effective in both forms of arthritis, osteo- and rheumatoid, for most people. Moderately helpful in asthma.
