Thoughts on tinnitus, St Johns Wort?

Posted by blueberry on April 29, 2006, at 15:00:49

The best I ever felt was with st johns wort. The problem is it causes an extreme elevation of my existing ringing in the ears.

I've noticed if I boost norepinephrine...with either DLPA or tyrosine...the tinnitus gets very quiet. They both give an instant mood boost followed by a bad depression that gets worse with more doses.

Most research says the final pathway for ear noises is through glutamate and/or dopamine systems, and that the sounds go through the same parts of the brain as memory and mood.

So I wonder how does norepineprhine squash that out? I wonder if the glutamate reuptake of sjw is what raises the tinnitus level? I wonder if norepinephrine squashes out glutamate or dopamine?

Strange...common treatments for tinnitus are xanax and klonopin and ssri's. All these actually increase my tinnitus a lot. Weird.

The problem with me raising norepinephrine to quiet things down is that it also makes me super depressed like I need to go to the hospital.

Stuck. Thoughts on st johns wort, tinnitus? I want to take st johns wort again, but I also want to figure a way to keep things quiet. I mean, the tinnitus just roars. That seems like an impossible puzzle right now.
