In the kind I have, there's 1,000 mg of orotic acid which includes 75 mg of magnesium. I bought the powder and filled my own capsules and have been taking 2 at a time, so only about 150 mg of magnesium. But I take other varieties as well. One time when I took 3 capsules I got a terrible headache! Not sure what that was about. Magnesium orotate is especially recommended for heart disease, I've read. So perhaps it has some extra blood vessel expanding properties and that's what gave me the headache. Just chatting, I don't mean to discourage you away from mg orotate at all. I'm still taking it, just not that much at a time.

Sorry for jumping in here... Aus mate
Solgar is the magnesium citrate
what it is chelated with? I couldn't find out when I tried:-), nor could the supplement companies who onsell the supplements(tried a few), really which ther was some govt. rules here ;-)
but its been over a couple of years since I tried.. so might be some hope :)

JL,
sounds like it was too much orotate.

Our magnesium orotate unfortunately is ONLy in tablets(which usually I don't buy as I don't seem to go well with the fillers etc). I've bought some, but haven't tried as yet.
Nature's Own 400mg.. which wuld not be anywhere near enough magnesium for you, but the dose guideline on the bottle is 1 tablet 3 times a day.. means 1200mg mag. orotate.
So maybe you should aim for around 1000mg magnesium orotate approx.(whatever that works out to in capsules?:-).. or even better about 1000mg divided over how ever often you take magnesium during the day?
and the rest a different form of magnesium?

Not sure how often you take magnesium.. most take it twice a day if they need a lot , but I'm sure you have that bit down pat ;-)

Just a suggestion, it would give you a enough orotate to see if it works, hopefully without the headaches?

Now where did you buy your capsule filler from?
I've heard of a few folk on here using them.
OK I even recall someone discussing them smewhere before...but I'd love to know what you think of them

I'll probably put in an iherb order or similar to US or UK in about 4 months time or so ? :-)
So what's the capsule filler like to use..
I hand fill capsules when I need to.. mix a few caps together to get approx desired mix I want..

Best wishes,
Jan
