Hi Katia,

I'm the person who originally sent this message out to you. Had to change my screen name.

Sorry it's taken me so long to write back. I would prefer to do this over babblemail. Wanted to let you know that it's still me :)

Since I last wrote, besides seeing a practitioner, I have been reading some interesting books on shamanism. May post those on the forum later for all to take a look at, as well.

> Hi Mad Poet,
> Thanks for your post. It's actually something I've been thinking about for years and reading about. I go in and out of my desire for meds and then my inclination that the scientific community is one lens to look through at this bipolar dx. I understand that i am considered bipolar through that lens, I just also understand there is more to it than just that; there are many variables which also simultaneously effect each other as well - feed off each other.

Mental disorders are looked at as spiritual emergencies. Most "mentally ill" people are highly sensitive as well - I know my antennae is very fined tuned and I pick up on a lot that others don't. Anyway, another shamanic healer, Sandra Ingerman, I've read her book "Soul Retrieval" and actually had contact with her a couple years ago. I chose to go the medical/med route instead, but after two years of this route, I intuitively feel there is something more going on that meds cannot address alone. Sandra talks a lot about spirit guides and the underworld/middle where she journeys in the healings.

I'm lucky to have found someone who is really good for me (very responsive) and is great at it. For me, this is the path I need to heal and it works for me. It's not for everyone, though (I have friends who choose other approaches.) I'm not trying to discourage you, just sharing my experience. It's up to you.

Were you thinking about any particular form of shamanism? I've experinced reiki, other energy healing and some other shamanic things that need some explaining - it's better in my mind to describe things rather than give them a label.
