> I just started taking magnesium taurate and I've felt a little more sleepy the past few days. Is it possible that the magnesium, or more specifically the taurine in the complex that is causing it? Or is it just coincidence?

I think it is extremely likely....Seems taurine is an agonist of the GABA receptor in the CNS, and we need GABA to be operating for us to sleep - benzodiazapenes work on the GABA receptor too, as does melatonin...

Think the magnesium is important as it reduces the action of glutamate, the neurotransmitter that opposes GABA, and also helps synthesize GABA as the enzyme GAD is dependent on it (also requires B6(P5P)too.
