Outgrowth of Hair

Posted by laawaaris on February 16, 2004, at 10:19:02

Hello,

I have taken the medicine Prednisone (a steroid) for a GI problem I have called Colitis. I did not know the side effects of this medicine, but I have had an outgrowth of hair - both facial and bodily - since taking the medicine.

I have been off the medicine now for several years, but I fear that the steroid triggered a hormone imbalance of some sort that has caused the outgrowth. I looked into the medicine and did notice some isolated cases of excessive hair growth - especially facial hair growth - as a side effect.

For me I have noticed sprouts of hair growing in uncommon areas - such as the Forehead, Upper Cheeks and other areas where hair was not previously present.

Does anyone know of any remedies or alternatives to help reduce the outgrowth of hair? Or possibly even stop it altogether? I have tried various creams (Vaniqua) and seen many doctors, but nothing has seemed to work.

Thanks.
