what's acetil cystein for ?

I've asked my pharmacist SAM-E but it came out that is not OCT where I live (Italy). He sold me instead of it acetil cystein saying that is "quite the same thing". Does anybody know if also acetil cystein is supposed to have antidepressant properties ? Thanks
