Suntheanine is definitely the superior form of the product... though I believe what makes it superior is the simple fact that it's 99.9% pure l-theanine. Many products sold as l-theanine are actually green tea extract, which is a source of l-theanine, but how is it that they get away with completely mislabelling it?? I mean, most green tea extracts contain caffeine, and some people may be allergic to green tea itself... so I assume inferior products such as these will continue to be sold until someone becomes violently ill (or worse) from ingestion of a mislabeled product. Ah well...
I've found Suntheanine to be a great relaxant, especially for muscles after a hard workout. It definitely has some powerful... well... I wouldn't really say anti-anxiety so much as "anti-stress" effects.
About saving money, you could just purchase pure l-theanine very inexpensively from online chemical suppliers in bulk (usually lots of 50, 100, 500, or 1,000grams). Then you simply encapsulate that in the large gelcaps (00-size). I'll dig up a good source and then post it.
