I just re-read the message, and I still think that Emmy was clearly talking about her own experience and feelings. And it seems to me that she does feel gender is an issue in how she responded. That's honest. I don't see it as putting down all men. I see it as Emmy talking about what upset her and reflecting on why. That's very brave of her.
