yeah it depends, there's patiients that have to stay there for life because of mentall illness, usally that's state hospitals. I have funny story to tell, i've been to hospitals before, but i drove all the way to terrell state hospital because at the time i thought i needed to be away from everything. Stress and all this crazed feeling, but when i got there it's an old hospital, parts of it are current, like the offices in frount but deeper into the site, it's still has artecture from the 1930s, seems like it was never updated. I thought i would stay there, but I said i don't hear anything, just anxiety and started pulling out because they had these guards that tackle people when there out of control, there were 2 guards sitting in the assesment room....i got afraid thinking this is where serious cases go.... they could of own me for a long time. Good behavior and improvement in symptoms usally the'll let you go, or get into self improvement program like outpatient. But others have to stay there, because they can't be in the real world because of severity of illness.

It can be helpful, yes....i know people who got really unstable, felt having nervous breakdown, and they went to the psych hospital and slowly got better, put them on meds the doctor didnt choose to do.But yes, defiently it can help in emergency situations, they rehabilite you so you can function and be stable. It also depends on psych hospital, there's some that are ALOT of money, i stayed at one about 9 years ago. They had an expresso machine in the cafe, they had burgers that we're good like fast food, everything seemed above average. I stayed there because it was closets one, and took a big budget from account to stay there, in some way i kinda regret it because it was so much money, and lost alot of savings. But their staff was very nice, and they had programs like relaxation, meditation

It just depends on why you think you should go, to go to them and get better or go and stay there for a long time.
