Antidepressants might actually be called emotional anesthetizers instead to be more accurate. SSRIs cause way too much abnormal amounts of serotonin to be scooped up by NE and DA receptor sites instead of serotonin receptor sites - NE and DA are mainly for alertness, attention, motivation and pleasure - so you get serotonin which is calming replacing NE and DA and of course motivation goes in t he trash. This, along with sexual dysfunction, which is basically the same thing - too much serotonin - are two extremely common complaints of antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers and anti-anxiety meds.

Sometimes you can make up for it by adding in NE/DA components to counter-balance the excess serotonin. Ritalin. Adderall. Rhodiola Rosea.

If you are feeling numb on any SSRI, that is what they do. It is not often they make a person feel normal.

My journeys have proven to me that almost all depressions - everybody at this site - are caused by things we can control and push back against. These things include unknown unsuspected stealth infections, including at least half a dozen gram negative bacteria, gram positive bacteria, cell wall deficient bacteria, parasites, viruses and funguses - many of these come from ticks, mosquitoes, and sexual contact, even just kissing. Infections are at the top of the list but they cause the other things - cytokine cascades, systemic inflammation, brain inflammation, changes in brain tissue, accumulation of toxins, and disruption of the immune system.

Whether somebody has Lyme disease or not does not matter - you can get your best mood, including total remission, without drugs, by studying natural ways of treating Lyme disease. When you do that, your depression in 9 out of 10 cases will be gone.

Not as easy as it sounds though. My journey from 25 years of chronic treatment resistant depression to remission took 3 years of treating Lyme disease issues - antimicrobials, anti-inflammation, and anti-toxin. Those 3 things are causing your depression. Not some mysterious chemical imbalance - that is just a symptom like everything else - you have to get the actual cause - which Zoloft and SSRIs will never do.

Critics here will challenge my claims which are anecdotal. When the two doctors who saved my life from suicidal depression tell me that 9 of 10 of their depression/anxiety patients respond to antimicrobial/antitoxin, anti-inflammation strategies like I did, I have absolutely no reason to doubt those claims because I experienced it directly. If you take the time and effort to roam chat rooms and blogs you find that there are literally millions of people with stories identical to mine.

I do, however, have serious doubts of 'expert' claims or 'scientific' claims because for the most part, those patients are still sick, many sicker than they were. They aren't getting better, is the point. You get millions of people stuck on numbing Zoloft when their problems have nothing to do with serotonin reuptake.

Not intended to diagnose or cure any disease. Do not change your protocol without speaking to your doctor. You are ultimately in charge of your health, nobody else.
