Trazodone Priapism

Posted by MuseMemento on June 24, 2016, at 12:54:51

I took trazodone 50 mg last night for the first time as a sleep aid. The actual effective dose would be considerably higher as I took it alongside fluvoxamine which raises the plasma levels of trazodone via cyp3a4 inhibition. Anyway, I seem to have experienced subclinical priapism, i.e. semi-erections for prolonged periods that were not associated with arousal and didn't subside as a result of orgasm. Hours later, I can still feel the result of engorgement. The trazodone also didn't assist me falling asleep but ensured I am now feeling hungover and would have been too sedated to have gone to the ER had the priapism been worse. Is it worth continuing to take the trazodone or should I discontinue it lest it become worse?
